Community Managed Libraries

Direct Help and Advice currently manage ten of Derby City Council’s libraries as Community Managed Libraries (CMLs)

Volunteering opportunity at our Libraries:

Derby Community Managed Libraries partnership has a new and exciting opportunity to support the running of your local library.

We want to encourage greater use and new participation in library services so they become hubs in our communities and offer an inclusive and wide range of services to its users.

We offer training in issuing and discharging books so you can help in your local library. The role is flexible with varying levels of responsibility. We need people to assist with everything from fundraising to arranging events and running classes or clubs. This is a varied and interesting role which would enable you to use your talents in lots of different ways or to specialise in one area if you prefer. Please click here for further information.

Activities and services:

We have a variety of different activities happening at the libraries. Please check the individual libraries for which clubs are on offer and when they are available. Clubs include: Rhymetime, Knit and Natter, Tune ‘n Tales, Baby Reflexology. We also offer photocopying, printing and IT support at some of the libraries.
